Our Story

Ah, the famous ping-pong room. For the people who do not know, Lan used to be a competitive table tennis athlete in high school, and had just let go of her ambition to go to her second Jeux du Québec after a heartbreaking loss in qualifications. 

She decided to stop playing until she saw a room at her new cégep, with two ping-pong tables, and a bunch of guys in line, waiting their turn to play. She asked if she could play next and she was giving a cold shoulder, people thinking a girl playing would a waste of their time. What they didn't know is that Lan is very competitive, and she decided to destroy each one who pissed her off at the table. 

Meanwhile, second-year student and pretty good ping-pong player Tom was playing at the second table and REALLY thought Lan was a huge show-off, and kind of mean too. Yet he was amazed at how well she played, and asked to play her next. Lan, thinking she was on a roll, got badly beaten by Tom, the first person to dethrone her. 

She, being a sore-loser, refused to talk to him for a few days, until he decided to break the tension and take the first step to get to know her. 

They talked a lot about their shared interest for Japanese anime and video games, and that was the beginning of their beautiful friendship, and later on their love story.

Years passed by, and suddenly it's been 8 years since Tom & Lan's first encounter, first date, first kiss, etc. Lots had changed since, with them graduating, getting jobs, buying their first home together in 2021 and becoming dog parents to the adorable Suki. 

Lan had been bugging Tom for a while about taking their relationship to the next step, which for her was getting married. Tom didn't really understand what was the rush, but what he did know is that he indeed wanted to spend the rest of his life with the woman of his dreams. 

On Christmas Eve of 2022, after a beautiful home-cooked brunch and "Lucky" by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat playing in the background, Tom brought Lan to dance with him in the middle of their dining room, asked her to marry him and to be his best friend & wife for the rest of their lives.

She obviously said YES!
